FORBES: Fanatics Launches Fanatics Live: A Livestream Commerce App Redefining The Trading Card Ecosystem

Fanatics is executing another play to build its trading card ecosystem with today’s launch of its new livestream commerce business, Fanatics Live. The new app promises collectors a live shopping experience through creator-run breaks, where consumers can watch and interact with live product openings and buy cards in real time. The app is available in North America for AppleAAPL +0.5% devices, with Fanatics developing both web and Android versions later in 2023.

Fanatics Live aims to differentiate itself from other livestream collecting apps by leveraging its relationships across the major sports. Fanatics Live CEO Nick Bell cited how they used the 2023 MLB All-Star Game to deliver engaging content featuring some of the most prominent names in the sport.

“At Fanatics we have unparalleled partnerships across the world of sports,” said Fanatics Live CEO Nick Bell via e-mail. “From leagues and teams to athletes and personalities, we’re unlocking these relationships to create unmissable moments that fans can be a part of regardless of where they are. As an example, we debuted Fanatics Live, on-field at the MLB All Star game with a star-studded show that included participation from top athletes such as Freddie Freeman and Albert Pujols. We have many more moments in the works which we are excited to share with fans over the coming weeks and months.”

While developing its live commerce platform, Fanatics is exercising extra care to create safeguards in the marketplace. Establishing trust remains a primary concern for the company, as they want fans to enjoy a safe shopping experience through the app…
