To help support the healthcare personnel in this battle, Major League Baseball and Fanatics have partnered to halt the production of MLB player jerseys and are now using that same fabric to produce masks.

What masks is Fanatics making?

  • These are single use, general purpose non-surgical masks.
  • These masks are not equivalent to surgical masks and should not be used in surgical procedures.
  • They are non-sterile and should not be used for any purpose that requires a sterile environment or sterile operations.
  • They have not been tested for medical efficacy in the prevention or protection from any form of illness or disease (or otherwise) including against COVID-19.
  • These masks are not intended to provide liquid barrier protection.
  • The masks should not be used in a clinical setting where the infection risk level through inhalation exposure is high.
  • These masks should not be used in the presence of a high intensity heat source or flammable gas.

Isn’t Fanatics making gowns too?

Yes, Fanatics is finalizing the design of our gowns and will post a gowns FAQ as soon as available.

Are these respirators N95 Filtering Facepiece Respirators (FFR) or otherwise?

No. These masks are being made to address the shortage of critical supplies, during the current public health emergency.

Are they re-useable?

No, they are single-use. They are not to be re-used, re-processed, or re-washed.

Do these masks protect against or prevent transmission of COVID-19?

No. These masks are being made to address the shortage of critical supplies, during the current public health emergency.

Will these masks help healthcare professionals?

Wherever possible, health care facilities should continue to use FDA-cleared face masks and NIOSH- approved and/or FDA-cleared N95 respirators or better. Health care providers should follow current Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance regarding personal protective equipment (PPE) that should be used during this public health emergency.

Healthcare providers should use their own professional judgment on whether to use these masks, based on their medical expertise and the specific circumstances of their practice.

What are these masks made of?

The masks are made of 100% Polyester Mock Mesh and Woven Elastic. These materials may come in contact with the body.

Are the masks for sale to the general public?

No. At this time, Fanatics is manufacturing the masks solely for donation to state governments and hospitals.

Are these masks FDA approved?

No. FDA does regulate these products but FDA approval or clearance is not currently required. Fanatics has taken steps to help ensure that it complies with all currently applicable FDA requirements for these products.

Indications for Use:

  • Fanatics Face Mask is intended to cover part of the face for general use.
  • Mask is intended for single-use ONLY.
  • The following materials may come in contact with the body: 100% Polyester Mock Mesh, Woven Elastic.

Directions for Use:

Fitting the Mask:

  1. Hold mask with longer elastic on top and nosepiece up.
  2. Hold both elastics, with loops sewn on inside of masks. Pull over head.
  3. Place mask over nose and mouth and place larger loop of elastic above ears and smaller loop of elastic around back of neck.
  4. Pull bottom of mask under chin and mold the nosepiece around the nose.
