Industry Veteran Matt Madrigal Joins Fanatics as Chief Technology and Product Officer

August 20, 2014 – JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Fanatics, Inc., the world’s leading online retailer of officially licensed sports merchandise, today announced Matt Madrigal has joined the company as Chief Technology and Product Officer.  Based in San Francisco and reporting to Fanatics CEO Doug Mack, Madrigal will play a key role in shaping technology and mobile strategy, while expanding the company’s product development and data capabilities to support the next generation of growth for the sports eCommerce leader.

Madrigal was most recently SVP of eCommerce & Marketing for Williams-Sonoma, Inc., where he led all digital commerce and mobile technology functions for a portfolio of home furnishings brands, such as Williams-Sonoma, Pottery Barn and West Elm, helping to grow the company’s eCommerce business to over two billion dollars in 2013.

“Matt brings more than 16 years of deep eCommerce expertise and tech innovation to Fanatics with a proven track record of delivering high-quality, scalable products,” said Mack. “As we continue to grow, investing in cutting-edge technology is paramount and Matt’s broad spectrum of experience will significantly strengthen both the consumer and partners sides of our business.”

Prior to Williams-Sonoma, Madrigal led engineering and product for all of eBay’s digital marketing and onsite advertising technology functions, including the analytical & data platforms that powered the company’s global Internet marketing efforts. While at eBay, he was also instrumental in the creation of Triton, one of the most respected SEM platforms in the industry.

“Joining a company like Fanatics, which is already the market leader and still has massive growth potential, is incredible. The fact that I’m a huge sports fan just makes this opportunity even more exciting,” said Madrigal. “I’m looking forward to building one of the top tech organizations in the industry and creating platforms that can scale both domestically and internationally to help drive growth.”

A graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, Madrigal was also a senior consultant with KANA Software and began his career as an analyst at Accenture.
